Cambridge High School, S Block
Cambridge High School’s Sullivan (S) Block was a $12.4 million project, constructed by Livingstone Building. It adds 15 new classrooms to the campus and can accommodate more than 370 students.
Built in a U-shape, S block contains dedicated spaces for music, art, media, digital technology, electronics and careers, and classrooms for students who need extra learning support.
Feisst Electrical provided a full design and build service for this project.
Unexpectedly encountering a major issue with site power reticulation, the team had to deliver, price and install a whole new service main design. A 200m long trench was put in – cutting through grass, concrete and asphalt. Pits and several ducts were included for future expansion. In addition, there were many service relocations during the project to accommodate the needs of the school.
Despite these challenges, the project was successfully delivered a month ahead of deadline.
An interesting fact about S BlockStanding 8.9m high, the building has a 1,122 sqm footprint and is made of 200mm precast concrete and structural steel.
