Meet Matt, Site Manager
Matt started his career at Feisst as an electrical apprentice in 2016. His first project was Glaisdale Radius, followed by Lakewood Apartments in Manukau and Rototuna Countdown.
"I started handling more responsibilities, which meant I had to start thinking on my own and solving problems as they cropped up. Working on the Countdown project during Covid taught me a great deal about maintaining a strong work ethic. It was there that I completed my apprenticeship and earned my qualification."
Matt then moved up to take on his first site charge role at McDonalds Karaka. It was a significant step up, running the job independently and mentoring his own team.
After that he did a brief stint in residential. Returning to Feisst, Matt found himself “thrust into the deep end" as site manager at Waikato University’s The Pa project.
"This was a unique challenge as I had never worked on an architecturally designed building before" says Matt.
As site manager, Matt maintains communication with the main contractors and ensuring the Feisst team are completing work to a high standard. He orders materials, oversees the day-to-day running of the site, and works to ensure on-site culture is motivational. “I try to ensure the team enjoys coming to work” he says.
Why Feisst? “I believe Feisst has some of the best job opportunities in the Waikato. Looking back on the jobs that I’ve worked on - The Pa, Union Square, Radius, Countdown, McDonalds - I don’t believe it would be easy getting this kind of exposure with any other Waikato company.”
